Moving Our Work Into New Communities

We made it to Savannah! Just several months back, KIA granted us the funds to serve the community, and here we are holding our very first family learning workshop in Savannah at the Habersham YMCA. This was one of Inspiredu’s bigger laptop distribution turnouts, with roughly 160 participants in attendance.

Earlier last month, we were able to meet some of the families in attendance at the YMCA and parent university with Savannah Chatham public schools. We had guest volunteers from the Gulfstream Aerospace Corporation to help out with the distribution and made sure things ran smoothly.

Savannah Chatham public school’s Lead Program Manager and part of the Instructional Tech and Media Services, Tonja Brunn, helped us with facilitation and was extremely helpful. We had an anonymous family say, “ My daughter enjoyed the workshop and all of the information we learned a lot together.”

Overall, the families were enthusiastic about the learning experience and the chance to receive a new laptop. We served families from all walks of life and met some amazing people. We look forward to going back out to Savannah in the near future.
