Board Highlight: Joe McKenna

Q. As an Inspiredu board member, what are you most excited about?
Being a member of the board is such a privilege. I have volunteered with Inspiredu for a few years now, and taking that to the next level of actively sharing the message with my friends and community is great! Altruistically it is great to give back, and personally it fulfills a part of who I am and what makes me tick. There is so much opportunity in the world, and children and families need access to it. By working with Inspiredu, we can make sure everyone can thrive.
Q. What is your current job, and what does it involve?
I am an account executive at QTS. We are one of the world’s largest data center providers. I work to help my clients with infrastructure that drives their digital footprint.
Q. What is a day like in the life of Joe?
I am blessed with a wife, a five-year-old boy, a newborn boy, and a golden doodle. So my day-to-day is a whirlwind of work, volunteering, and my family. I wouldn’t have it any other way!
Q. How do you relate to Inspiredu’s mission, values, and/or work?
I went to high school in the city of Atlanta and saw the diverse mix of individuals, incomes, and access (or lack thereof) to necessities for success. So when the pandemic hit, I was acutely aware of the fact that there were children and families who were not receiving access to the digital and virtual world of education and were quite likely falling behind. It is the mission and values of Inspiredu that inspires me to give of my time. Digital inclusion for the underserved is paramount to their success and the success of society.
