Digital Picnic and Family Connection
This month, we hosted our inaugural Digital Picnic, providing an additional way for our families to connect with us. The event took place virtually on March 27 at 5:00 p.m. It served as an excellent platform for the Inspiredu staff to engage with some families and learners we've worked with in the past. We were delighted to hear many inspiring stories about our learners' progress in their digital journeys. Additionally, we were able to offer additional resources and information where needed.
Tamica Hill and her boys were among the families who connected with us, as depicted in the image above. Tamica's 8-year-old son, Terrance Smith Junior, received a laptop at Dubois Integrity Academy. Tamica expressed her appreciation, stating, "I found the workshop incredibly valuable in teaching various aspects of privacy and safety on the computer." Interestingly, Tamica's older son, Jayden Bolden, now a senior at Hapeville Charter Career Academy, also received a laptop from us several years ago when he was in the 3rd grade at Dubois Integrity Academy. Jayden is embarking on a journey into cybersecurity at Morris College, facilitated by a five-week STEAM program, which will grant him a full-ride scholarship if he maintains a high grade point average.
We were thrilled to encounter past workshop learners like Tamica at the Inspiredu Digital Picnic! We enjoyed learning about their experiences with our laptops and digital literacy workshops, which have often significantly influenced their career paths.
