Inspiredu's Volunteer & Training Center Town Hall
Inspiredu’s first Town Hall held at our newly renovated Volunteer & Training Center, a flagship Lift Zone powered by Comcast, was nothing short of a success. We hosted this important conversation at the heart of our engagement center: inside the classrooms where we train our learners. Our goal was to give community members, corporate partners, and panelists a glimpse of what we do at Inspiredu.
The Town Hall was titled "From Barriers to Bridges: Digital Infrastructure as a Tool for Economic Mobility." We aimed to highlight the collaboration and partnerships required to build bridges for our community. Digital infrastructure is central to our work, enabling our community to engage and connect. The event was moderated by Williams Wesley, Executive Board member and leader at Delta Community Credit Union. Our executive panel included industry experts such as Bentina C. Terry, President and CEO of Southern Linc and Southern Telecom, and Vern Gwyn, Financial Inclusion Leader for the Georgia Region at Truist. We also featured partners from community-based organizations, including Gabrielle Chapman from Next Gen, Jonathan Mayo from Year Up United, and Dedren Snead from Subsume.
The conversation was insightful, offering valuable perspectives on how everyone can come together to support our community. Bentina C. Terry emphasized that Stewardship (which is the 2025 Theme for Inspiredu) must be responsible, equitable, and sustainable: “To be good stewards, we must ensure that assets have a long life, that funds are spent properly, and that investments last for years to come. Stewardship means ensuring that everything works as intended and that investments are maintained over time.” Jonathan Mayo shared, “I like the idea of working in partnership to create multi-generational programs that teach and connect learners. Each one, teach one.”
These discussions are crucial as we continue to advance our mission and build lasting partnerships to foster digital literacy within our communities. Be sure to join us for our next Town Hall in May!
