Private-Public Partnerships in Education

Our latest Town Hall brought together a panel and audience of leaders representing foundations, education, and corporate industries for a lively discussion on Public-Private Partnerships in Education. This hybrid event was held on location at Cumberland Group and also streamed online. Our advisory board also hosted a watch party at Fire Maker Brewing Company.

The town hall was moderated by media personality and Inspiredu Board member Dana Barrett. Here’s a little more about each panelist:

Michelle Arrington, State and Local Government Affairs at Verizon, shared her experience working with community engagement and policy across Georgia, her unique perspective of inclusivity, and its monumental impact on corporate partnerships. “Volunteerism is extremely important! It takes a little bit of everyone to give back.”

Joi Hunter from the Office of Partnerships and Development at Atlanta Public Schools brought her unique perspective related to fundraising. In her role, she works with both corporate and community partners to get critical funding and resources to schools across the district.

Atiba Mbiwan, Executive Director at The Zeist Foundation, Inc, brought insights from his over 20 years of experience with the foundation. Atiba challenged us to think about education differently because the system was designed differently, and little has changed. One suggestion he had was “ teaching teachers to develop the whole literacy--numerical and computational literacy in addition to reading literacy will be helpful.”

Rachel Sprecher, Relationships Manager at R. Howard Dobbs, Jr. Foundation was able to pull from her previous experience working with Atlanta Public Schools to her role now, where she works with community-based organizations to provide financial resources and support for education, health, and environmental stewardship.

The town hall was filled with a tremendous amount of insight on ways the public and private sectors can partner to better support education and the future of work. We were honored to have our supporters and partners in attendance. Find out more about our next town hall here.
