Financial Connection through Technology
We held an adult digital literacy workshop for Bridge Academy in College Park with Synovus. Synovus came in and shared some financial tips with the community as part of their corporate responsibility. They had three different representatives present to talk about three different areas of financial stability.
They covered budgeting, debt management, and planning and saving for the future. One of our participants Tina Barnes, who is 53 years old says “They taught me how to separate your wants from your needs and separating 20% of your wants 30% of essentials needs 50% of needs. In addition to the budget-friendly tips Synovus had to offer, we also included our brief about the laptops they were receiving and how to navigate them. We include safety measures, and basic maintenance and care for the laptop in our hour-long workshop. Tina says “ I've been doing well with my computer. Before I got my laptop I didn't really know much about the computer.”
Amongst Tina, were 24 other participants who came for the workshop and left with smiling faces. The Bridge Academy is a special place that has a food pantry and works with seniors and younger adults on their life skills.
We will be back to visit them again in June!
