Inspiredu's Black History Town Hall 2023
Inspiredu held its very first Black History Month Town Hall at our Volunteer and Training Center, which was a huge success!
We had amazing panelist Ruth Davis, Director and Client partner at IBM, Steven McWilliams, Vice President and CIO of Georgia Hospital Association, Dr. John Chrisentary, Director of Global Tech Services at Medtronics Gastrointestinal, and Chris Thorpe, Senior Director of Information Security at Cox Enterprises. They all did a phenomenal job sharing the Tech Strategies to Innovate the Community.
Chris Thorpe shared the importance of serving the community and how wealth deprivation affects the Black population. In addition, Ruth Davis shared her wisdom from being at IBM for many years. Also, she provided insight into ways Black women in America can create positive change in their communities. Dr. John Chrisentary explained the importance of working with organizations like Inspiredu to bridge the digital divide. He also spoke about some of the barriers he faced as a Black male in the tech business. Plus, Steven McWilliams contributed his knowledge to the advancements made within the healthcare industry. Further, he explained how his company determines the way they distribute grant money to maximize digital inclusion within the community.
Our moderator, Nicole Estelle of AIB Network, did a terrific job keeping the panelists focused on discussing how we can bridge the digital divide.
We are so thankful to have the opportunity to partner with such an excellent panel of Black community leaders. The insight and knowledge they share with our technology professionals, community- based organizations, and Inspiredu families are invaluable.
